Steel manufacturers, Metalfin, had identified a need to increase its workforce's IT skills at all levels (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced) in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. As a starting point, Metalfin contacted REACT with an outline of their training requirements. After submitting the most competitive quote of all, and following initial discussions, REACT then came back with a full proposal. With delegates coming from Glasgow, Milton Keynes and Bradford and given the diversity of the training requirements, careful planning was crucial throughout. This, together with REACT's excellent in-house facilities and an ability to offer highly practical, very job specific training, held the key to the project's success. To ensure continuity and consistency at each stage, an integral part of the training programme was that, wherever necessary, trainers would liaise closely with each other to maintain continuity. Lombard Direct Operations and Human Resources needed more sophisticated data capture systems for the growing processes and workforce. Within the business there was not adequate developmental support at a technical level. Therefore assistance in the form of training with specific reference to Microsoft Access was required from outside the business. One of REACT's expert trainers delivered the training over two days at the Lombard site where a full IT training suite was available. After the successful completion of the course the company are now benefiting from easier data manipulation. E-business Solutions are the leading e-commence provider for the Office Products Industry. For the past five years they have provided for and satisfied the needs of this Sector. The company is currently working to expand their presence in other such Industries. They recently increased the number of staff employed and found it necessary to increase the skills level of these new employees. They approached REACT for the help with training on a number of different Microsoft Office courses. Training was completed at the REACT centre in one of the dedicated IT training suites. As a result the staff now boast a greater level of efficiency and are able to utilise the software to a greater level.
