Posy Bowl partners, Richard Roberts and Janet Silcock worked abroad for 10 years with the British Council, returning to the UK in the late ‘80s. Richard Roberts explained: “We were looking for a change of career and a new challenge. Janet’s family owned a florist shop in Mexborough, and we decided to take over the running of the shop.

“Two years later we added the Posy Bowl in Rotherham to our existing business. The hatrick was completed earlier this year with the opening of a third shop in Wombwell, near Barnsley. We had established ourselves in the area but realised getting a site on the internet would provide another valuable sales channel, and make us accessible to a much wider market. Naming our Wombwell shop, Rhapsody-in-Bloom, gave us the opportunity to tie in a bricks and mortar business with our online operation.

“We recently decided to upgrade our website and contacted REACT who supplied us with a list of design companies. We chose REACT as they clearly understood what we wanted to achieve for the business. The project was managed by their ICT consultant, Richard Dennison, who gave us lots of useful guidance and advice including ways of making the site attractive from a consumer point of view.

The site also incorporates a range of other innovative services including email message cards, a personal `gift days to remember` organiser and a complete guide to choosing the most appropriate flower gifts.”
