Thu 25th Oct 2001 : New Office Opens Up An ‘Ocean’ of Opportunities
The arrival of REACT (The Regional Technology Centre) at The Deep Business Centre in Hull will enable local innovative businesses, start-up companies and entrepreneurs to easily access a raft of valuable information and advice.

The official opening of REACT (Wednesday 24 October) was hosted by Michael Rodd, who is well used to communicating new ideas, following a decade of presenting the BBC television programme, Tomorrow’s World.

Guests, drawn from a wide spectrum of Hull, East Riding and the South Bank business community including many clients, business support agencies and government departments had the opportunity to network and hear first-hand from companies who have already benefited from working with REACT.

Andy Bartlett, managing director of Grandtrax, went a stage further and brought a working model of his innovative model race track to the event, which includes a realistic sound system and timing to a thousandth of a second. REACT has been working closely with Andy to successfully harness new technology.

Gordon Shields, Chief Executive of REACT, said: “We are delighted to have a presence in Hull which complements the service we already provide in South Yorkshire. All businesses have their own individual and unique requirements but, research shows, they all share a common need to innovate. This can make the difference between stagnation and success, and we look forward to making a contribution to the flow of talent which exists in the region.”
