Wed 5th Sep 2001 : ‘Invest FOR Growth'(IFG) Grant Helps Company Achieve Clearer Vision
Rotherham Glass & Glazing (RGG) has received help from REACT in association with Yorkshire Enterprise Managers (YEM), through a grant from the EU funded ‘Invest for Growth’ (IFG) scheme, towards the cost of installing a new IT system.

Founded in 1987, RGG moved into purpose built premises last year where their highly trained staff manufacture a range of glass related products, including double glazed units for commercial and domestic use. The firm also offer a full fitting service and supply glass to protect ATM machines located across the United Kingdom. RGG currently employs 10 people.

Managing director, Chris Nicholson said: “To match the high quality of service we offer our customers, we realised that we needed to improve the efficiency of our internal operations. Previously we just had one computer that was rather out dated, and if I wanted to find out any details such as who owed us money, I had to rely on staff to give me a list of debtors. We now have a fully computerised system installed and I can access all the information I need from my own desktop computer. Having this increase in our IT capability has given us the capacity to efficiently manage our future growth.”

RGG discovered it was eligible to receive funding through Business Link South Yorkshire who put them in touch with REACT, The Regional Technology Centre, Accessing funding through YEM, REACT’s ICT consultant, Richard Dennison has worked closely with RGG advising on all aspects of their IT requirements.

Ray Lowe, managing director of YEM said: “RGG is a great example of a company that has benefited from different agencies working effectively together to provide a package of support and help. Smaller businesses often have great entrepreneurial skills, but need to be able to access expert assistance easily, through schemes such as IFG, to enable them to take their businesses forward.”

In line with the scheme’s requirement for business growth, RGG are on target to increase their turnover and take on a further two employees in the near future.
