| Thu 29th Aug 2002 : SWIFT COMMUNICATIONS ‘TRANSPORT’ COMPANY FORWARD |
| The Economatics Group, an
innovative South Yorkshire company which has built a reputation for being
in the driving seat of providing solutions to customers needs, now has ‘top
speed’, state-of-the-art communications, thanks to expert advice and
funding accessed through REACT (The Regional Technology Centre.)
Founded over 30 years ago, the Economatics Group, whose head office is located in Sheffield, now has three separate business units covering industrial, engineering and education fields and operates from 14 strategic locations throughout the United Kingdom.
David Hill, Economatics information systems director explained: “The group has grown by acquisition and exploiting niche markets that have emerged over the years. Our customer-base covers a wide range of companies throughout the world and, in the UK, includes the brewery, clothing and motor industry. “We pride ourselves on being pro-active, for example, we have a long-standing relationship with the Jaguar motor company and have recently developed a system for them which is capable of automatically setting the pressures on the cars pneumatic suspension, whilst on the production line. “As a business we recognise that providing our customers with a high quality service is crucial in these days of increasing global competition. Getting in touch with REACT enabled us to receive impartial expert advice on the best way to speed up communications between our UK sites.” REACT consultant, Philip Hudson explained: “Accessing funding for Economatics through the Invest for Growth scheme for a network connectivity development project has led to the staff being able to communicate extremely swiftly, using an on-line broadband virtual private network and internet connection.” David Hill said: “We can now exchange key sales and marketing information instantly, which has led to an improvement in customer service. We currently employ 200 people and have a turnover of £20m, both of which are projected to increase over the next three years.” |
