Wed 5th Jun 2002 : Raising Company Expectations
Assistance provided by REACT (The Regional Technology Centre) through the EU funded ‘Invest for Growth’ (IFG) scheme has led to Rotherham-based County Systems, manufacturers of aluminium conservatory roof systems, improving efficiency and making plans to expand the business.

Currently employing 12 people, County Systems has been established for four years and moved into its present premises 18 months ago. The company has built a reputation for designing and manufacturing high quality bespoke roofing solutions for the conservatory and building industry.

David Gallagher, managing director of County Systems said: “We knew we needed to take a careful look at our IT requirements as they would play a key role in our drive to become more efficient and expand the business. However, we were very wary about getting involved with a company that would only be interested in selling us a computer package, and would not give us the impartial advice and hands-on support we needed. Following an initial meeting with REACT consultant, Philip Hudson, we quickly realised they would be able to manage the whole operation for us.”

Philip Hudson has become a regular visitor to the company over the last few months. He explained: “Like many smaller businesses who have no in-house IT expert, County were using PCs but did not have an integrated system. For example, the computers were not linked and they had no server, back-up, anti-virus or communications strategy. We have overseen the installation of an optimum ICT solution, which will address these issues and accommodate the company’s future expansion plans.”

David Gallagher added: “REACT has really sorted us out! The help and advice received has enabled us to introduce new IT processes, which ensure our sales order processing, customer data management and accounting systems are much more efficient. This is helping us to increase our profitability, and we are now making plans to expand into larger premises, increase turnover and hopefully take on new staff in the future.”
